30 In 30

In 2008 I had this idea to push myself artistically. The idea was to do 30 drawings in 30 days. This was a project that I added on to all my normal workload and commissions. As I worked through the process I really enjoyed the sense of pressure to finish one drawing a day. Shortly after the first installment I attempted this again at possibly not the best time. I was doing this on top of my normal workload, commissions and during a move across the country. Needless to say I fell short on this one completing 23 in 23. I fell short both in numbers as well as quality, but it was still a fun attempt and I think some interesting work came from it. The third installment came over two years later. With this installment I took a different approach than the previous two. Previously I worked on each image at a time and this time I worked on the project as a whole. I bought a new sketchbook and jumped in head first. I focused on full page composition, while keeping the detail in the characters and pieces. I fell horribly short of 30 pages full completed but I enjoyed this attempt more than the previous two. In 2015 I will be looking at attempting this again.
