Survival of the Illest is a concert tour that was created and implemented from a long time friend and musician iLLvibe. As a long time fan of Hip Hop music, a previous album reviewer for a local magazine and a history of being involved in the local hip hop community I was brought on as a contest judge. In 2013 the contest included 9 cities across Southern Ontario and Quebec. 8 talented artists from each city came together to perform for a chance at the championship. The contest was a 10 minute performance judged on stage presence, lyrics, flow, production and overall performance. After the 9 local champions were selected, those 9 came together to compete for the SOTI championship. The first champion was Barrie local Definition.

With the popularity of the event, it returned for a second season in 2014. With the positive feedback of my unbiased judging I was asked to return again. This installment was expanded to 13 locations throughout Ontario and Quebec. The talent the second year was tough throughout the local events and made the championship round extremely competitive. The 2014 champion was Dustin Wareham.

With the wheels already turning for 2015 I look forward to becoming more involved as a judge for the entire tour.
