Mezziah - Anointed - 3 Beards
I was pleased with the simple yet interesting design of the front of "Anointed." The initial thought from the name of the artist, the title and specifically the track '1John 2:20" was that of a Gospel Rap Album. After digging through the 11 Tracks with features including, Church Chizzle, JD Era, and Executive Production from Gee Wunder, it doesn't read as such. The album is packed with a variety of tracks that for me, were reminiscent of older Hip Hop with a new flavor to them. Album favorites of mine were "Rise," "Beautiful Day," and "Moving On" which reminds me of a classic west coast cruising style track. "Beautiful Day" rounds out the album nicely with its references and name drops. Low points for me were the few heavily referenced drug tracks that come across as somewhat generic to me, as well as the Intro being linked to the first track. With an intro linked to the first track I feel it cuts down on the replay ability of what is a very good track. I would recommend checking this album out and purchasing the hard copy, or at least the tracks you enjoy. I look forward to seeing what Mezziah comes with for his next project.
