Nukky Grissom, iLLvibe, Tragic - Waiting For Dorothy - 3.5 Beards
"Waiting for Dorothy" is a 'Supergroup" consisting of Tragic of Philly Moves, Nukky Grissom and iLLvibe. The cover work done by Bruce Stevens, is inviting and well executed. Opening the case the image is also placed on the CD. I was a little disappointed to see that the liner notes consisted of just one double sided page. The backside of the cover includes both a Thank you from the artists as well as a tracklist of the 8 tracks. Call it what you will, EP or Album; this project is organized and executed quite well with catchy tracks, heartfelt lyrics and clever bars. The album begins with the Notion produced "Huff & Puff'. The swing style beat is quite catchy and a great start to the album. The next two tracks, "I Gotchu," and "Everyday" are probably the best tracks on the album. "I Gotchu" hits a little harder followed by the 9-5 anthem for everyone on that grind. The additional vocals on the track by Ciele Beau, complete the track opposite the group. "Too Turnt" rounds out the middle of the album taking the listeners through a journey of good times taken maybe a bit too far. "Perfect To Me" is my favorite track on the album and without giving too much away, the beat, the lyrics and content are all on point for this track. This project is quality that is worth the listen, and a must have for a fan of any of these three artists.
Going back over this album over the past year, This is the only album that I reviewed for Wonderground that I would change the rating for it. I feel that my friendship with iLLvibe had me being overly critical of the project, to seem unbiased. Even with the few tracks I wasn't really feeling I still think that this project deserves at least a 4.....At name your price, everyone should check out this project and decide for yourself.
